The Gann / Ervin Conflict

It looks like George's suspicions that Kenneth Gann was involved with Arthur Ervin's wife might be true.

Ervin married Odena Good in 1943; they listed their address as 648 West End Avenue, 28, Los Angeles.

Ervin and Gann had a major falling-out in late 1943 before shipping overseas; the cause was unknown but some believed that Odena was involved.

In spring of 1944, Ervin decided to name his mother as his health insurance beneficiary, changing it from Odena. In a letter to his brother, he said he "never wanted 'Neg' ever to feel obigated to me" and that his family "never did lie to me."

Ervin was killed in action on July 5, 1944.

Kenneth Andreas Gann was born in Los Angeles County in September, 1946. According to Ancestry.com, his mother's maiden name was Ervin.

The court case between Ervin's widow -now Mrs. Kenneth S. Gann - was heard in January 1948 by the US 5th Circuit Court of Appeals; the case is titled GANN V. MEEK.

In 1948, California Voter Registration documents listed a Kenneth S. Gann living at 7008 Mountain View Avenue; and a Mrs Odena Gann in 7008-B.
