Private Joseph Tommasiello (521)
Private Lawrence A. Trapp (521)
Private Paul Travis (521)
[Private Tommasiello might have been the "Bones" assigned to Al Perry's squad. Marines were assigned service numbers according to how they enlisted - numbers between 100000 - 600000 were for "regular volunteers," with the 500000 block reserved for those that enlisted at age 17. Tommassiello - born July 12, 1926, in Providence - carried service number 565029. Of the recorded replacements, he is the only one to have been wounded. Privates Merola and Travis were young volunteers as well; the remainder were in the 900000 range - "inductees" - meaning drafted.]
