Of course, this edition doesn't appear to be online (or anywhere for sale - of course the online editions begin with Volume 170...) but from what I gathered from snippets on Google Books, there was a court case regarding Ervin's life insurance policy in 1948.
The REALLY exciting part is that the volume cites a LETTER that Ervin wrote home in August 1943 IN ITS ENTIRETY. It is written to his brother Harley "Bud" Ervin and someone named Kay, who is either his sister or his brother's wife.
"Kay I'll send you that hula skirt this time if I can find a good one. Gotta close now will be waiting for your ans. Love to you both
Your brother
Cpl. Arthur B. Ervin"
Naturally, I am now in a minor tizzy trying to find a copy of this book.
ED: just applied for a new library card. Am I EVER going to get to the bottom of this! Look out, New York Public Library.

He/she might be able to help you.
Yeah... though I dunno if I'm $3,000 worth of anxious to get my hands on that entry!
Agreed. I was thinking that they may be willing to scan and email it for you, though.
